- Go at the very end or the very beginning of the season. For the best deals, wait until early October. The luxury shops in Capri willingly offer up season finale discounts.
- Going late in the season means that sun does not stay on the Napoli-side of the island as long as it does on the opposite side. Make sure to plan accordingly for beach visits, etc.
- If you want to feel as though you’ve left America, stay in Capri. Once the ferries full of day-trippers have left, the island feels far more European than the Yankee-infested Amalfi Coast, Ravello in particular. (I think even the shopkeepers are friendlier after the ferries have shoved off for the night) If you’re staying in Capri, a daytrip to Positano, Amalfi or Ravello would be easy enough to do.
- Have some sandals made, but shop around for the best deal.
- Order off menu. Any restaurant worth it’s salt will happily whip up some scampi alla griglia even if it's not listed.
- Uno per due. Split orders!
- In Capri have your apertivo in the piazza for the excellent people watching.
- Always drink local wine and always finish a meal with Amalfi limoncello.
