amsterdam: hotel roemer

Hotel Roemer sits on a quiet street in between Amsterdam's Old South neighborhood and the historic Canal Belt. Convenient to the city center, the upscale P.C. Hoofstraat and the verdant Vondelpark, this small hotel is ideally located for getting to know both Amsterdam's touristy sites and the spots locals prefer...
Decor is decidedly modern and the lobby is sprinkled with many signature pieces from well-known Dutch designers. Rooms are comfortable, if small by American standards. We stayed in the penthouse suite which featured a beautiful slate bathroom with a large soaking tub by the window, even better with a small flat screen tv perfectly positioned for bathtime viewing. Staff is perhaps not the most knowledgeable (don't expect good dinner recommendations!), but certainly very friendly. Overall it's a stylish hotel at a reasonable price in a quiet, convenient locale. And of course, this is Amsterdam, so there are bicycles available for guests to use.
On our last few nights there, Corinne Bailey Rae was camped across the hall.

  1. That place looks gorgeous. It will be great to stay there while touring the city of Amsterdam.
